I just got word that DWR was nominated for "Best New Business" for 2021! I am both thrilled and honored to have received this nomination! And in good company---there are several great new businesses in Belfast and Waldo County that were also nominated.
Back in the boat...after a gorgeous guided tour on Indigenous People's Day (with a gal who could really row), I took some time to give Sorciere a bath! She had some growth at her waterline and was a bit mucky in her interior. Some of this has to do with the mischievous river otters who apparently use her as their dining (and romper) room! The photos of me cleaning the boat are by my friend Joanne, who was also working on her boat at the Belfast Public Landing. It was a spectacular day for it!
Thank you, Belfast Chamber for recognizing DoryWoman Rowing among a stellar list of amazing new businesses in the area!

The weather has been phenomenal these past few weeks---perfect for being out on the water in a small wooden boat! I am planning on offering my rowing services through the end of October and hopefully into November. Beyond this...we'll see! This week of October likely marks the peak of the fall foliage--book your rowing lesson or guided tour today! There is no better way to take in the beauty and color of this season. Also, look for the Witches Row at the end of the month, a fun way to celebrate the Halloween and Samhain holidays. I'll be adding several of these rows to the calendar soon!
This past Wednesday, a friend and I went out for a “Moon & Stars" row on the New Moon. We didn't stay out quite long enough for the stars, but rowed in the utter gorgeousness of the setting sun. As the oars moved through the gentle waves, the color and play of light on the water was exquisite. It was like we were in a painting...only it was real! I'm so grateful for the beauty I'm able to experience regularly with my beloved Sorciere, in this amazing place I call home--and all the beautiful people I've been able to share this with.
